In order to enhance, rejuvenate and energize the stove project SEOFS organized a prize awarding ceremony on 20th November 2008 at Wakiso Subcounty headquarters, Wakiso district. This function served as an occasion to thank the different actors who played a major role to speed up the stove dissemination process.
This one day prize award ceremony gathered over 250 people including;
the Hon Minister for Finance and Planning, the District Forest Officer,
the Local Council Chairpersons, Councilors, GTZ Representative,
Stove Trainers and Stove users (from the 9 Subcounties).

She picked interest in this kind of work after she was appointed by officials from Sustainable Energy and Organic Faming System (Seofs) an NGO, to mobilise people in Namayumba sub-county to be trained in making energy-saving stoves. The training was done under the Promotion of Renewable Energy and Efficient Programme of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development supported by the German Technical Corporation (GTZ). Ms Joyce Sembo Muwanga of Lutisi Parish in Namayumba sub-county,
Wakiso District makes energy saving stoves for a living. The rectangular
stoves which have two provisions for the saucepans are made out
of soil from anthills. Sembo, a mother of six and a councillor has
been in this business since last year.
