Brief introduction
The Sustainable Energy and Organic Farming Systems (SEOFS)
is currently implementing activities on Biomass technologies
especially Rocket Lorena energy saving stove in several
district of Uganda, including Wakiso, Kiboga, Pader, Kitgum,
Gulu and Amuru
The eight months phase of stove Dissemination in Wakiso
district, which was supported by GTZ/Energy Advisory Project,
based in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development,
ended in May 2008. However, SEOFS carried out more supervision
and control of the dissemination process, though on a relatively
moderate scale.
In order to enhance, rejuvenate and energize the stove
project SEOFS organized a prize awarding ceremony on 20th
November 2008 at Wakiso Subcounty headquarters, Wakiso district.
This function served as an occasion to thank the different
actors who played a major role to speed up the stove dissemination
process.
This one day prize award ceremony gathered over 250 people
including; the Hon Minister for Finance and Planning, the
District Forest Officer, the Local Council Chairpersons,
Councilors, GTZ Representative, Stove Trainers and Stove
users (from the 9 Subcounties).
Major function highlights
The Function was presided over by the Vice Chairman of
Wakiso District, Mr. Edward Tumusiime
Also present were the LC III’s, LC I’s, District Health
Workers, Councilors and Parish Coordinators
The function drew about 250 participants representing
the 9 subcounties of project implementation area

The reaction during this ceremony was remarkable. There
was an overwhelming excitement of the people who received
the prizes, both as individuals and parishes.
The District pledged its support to further a similar
project in the rest of the subcounties of the district in
partnership with SEOFS. This will enhance both the sustainability
and strength of the project.
